Our virtual public mixology class is great if you are looking to build connection, spark creativity and conversation, and learn the basic knowledge and skills to make fantastic drinks. Makes for a great gift as well with our public virtual mixology gift certificate option.

What Is Included

  • A monthly rotating menu of drinks
  • Cocktail or non-alcoholic mocktail options (Alcohol for Ontario only).
  • Drink ingredients for three drinks including: liquor or non-alcoholic spirits, syrups, bitters, mixes, fresh fruits, herbs, vegetables, soda, garnishes, and other specialty ingredients as required.
  • 1.5 hour session covering four key topics/skills: 1. Engaging The Senses, 2. The Tools Of The Trade, 3. Drink Ingredients, 4. Building A Drink (More Details Below).
  • Certificate of completion.

Public Virtual Mixology Class Overview

1. Engaging The Senses

We will help you understand the five basic tastes of sweet, sour, salty, bitter, and umami, and how to leverage these basic tastes to make a terrific drink.

We will break down how the drink making process and how the drink itself can engage the five senses of touch, smell, taste, sight, and sound, and use these to create a deep emotional reaction.

We will also discuss drink pairing strategies with food, themes, and seasonality.

2. The Tools Of The Trade

Great quality equipment is a prerequisite for great quality drinks. We will help you understand the science of how the proper cocktail making equipment will help you improve the quality of your drinks.

We provide an overview of bar tool essentials, how to use them properly, and what attributes to look for in good quality equipment for your own use.

We also discuss tips for setting up a great home bar with consideration to space you are working with.

3. Drink Ingredients

Great quality ingredients are a prerequisite for great quality drinks. We will help you understand how various ingredients work together to create a tasty and well balanced drink including: fruits, vegetables, bitters, syrups, herbs, spices, soda, fruit juices, base spirits, modifiers, and ice.

We cover:

  • How drink ingredients are made.
  • How to select and prepare great quality ingredients
  • How to store your ingredients properly.

4. Building a Drink

We will help you and your guests learn the fundamental techniques to prepare a great quality shaken and stirred drink.

We review core drink preparation concepts and provide hands-on experience with: measuring drink ingredients, glass rinsing, muddling, layering, zesting, garnishing, smoking, and straining.

Mastering these fundamental skills will help create a solid platform to build your own creations.
