Where Is The Class?
Our bartending 101 classes run every month and are offered in two convenient formats: an in-person mixology class or an online bartending class (available in Ontario only).
If you choose the in-person option, classes are hosted at 180 Drinks, located at 400 Matheson Blvd E, Unit 20, Mississauga, ON L4Z 1N8.
For those who prefer to join from home, our virtual mixology classes (Ontario only) provide a guided, interactive experience online, allowing you to follow along in real time and build your skills from your own kitchen or home bar.
What Is Covered In The Bartending 101 Class?
In our Bartending 101 class, you’ll discover:
- How to craft drinks that delight every sense:
Learn to combine taste, scent, mouthfeel, temperature, and appearance so each cocktail feels purposeful. You’ll practice balancing sweetness, acidity, bitterness, and dilution, and see how each element shapes the final flavor. You’ll also explore how the right garnish, glass choice, and finishing details can elevate the overall impression from first look to last sip.
- How to confidently handle bar tools and equipment:
Get practical experience with key tools, including shakers, strainers, jiggers, bar spoons, muddlers, blenders, and more. You’ll understand when to shake versus stir, how to measure accurately, and how to use ice effectively. By the end, you’ll be able to produce polished cocktails and mocktails using professional methods.
- Preparing, using, and storing beverage components properly:
Discover how to create and handle essential elements like syrups, freshly squeezed juices, infusions, bitters, and garnishes. You’ll learn practical methods for prepping ingredients, maintaining freshness, and applying clear labels and dates.
We’ll also review safe storage practices and simple techniques to protect taste, aroma, and overall quality over time. With the right habits, every serve stays consistent and delicious—so the first drink and the last drink are equally impressive.
- Selecting the best drinks for any event:
Build the ability to design a drink list that suits the occasion by aligning it with the theme, season, and menu. You’ll practice pairing beverages with a range of cuisines, offering choices for different tastes and dietary needs, and creating a balanced lineup. The goal is a complete selection that includes both cocktails and alcohol-free mocktails.

Trace the origins of craft mixology and learn how timeless drinks were first invented. Discover how changing fashions, cultural influences, and available ingredients have shaped today’s beverage scene.
