Ardbeg 10 Year Old Islay Scotch Whisky

The small, remote Scottish island of Islay (pronounced ‘eye-lah’) is an antique land. A wild and untamed place, where Celtic monks found refuge from raiding Norsemen and early distillers smuggled their illicit “aquavitae” at Ardbeg’s rugged rocky cove.

For over 200 years, Ardbeg has been made on Islay. One of the nine Islay distilleries, this whisky is known as one of the worlds most heavily peated single malts. A perfect addition for a high end scotch sampler or a peaty whisky tasting set!

Auchentoshan 12 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Auchentoshan 12 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky Gift Set

Because Auchentoshan distills away all the impurities in the liquid, strong notes of fruit and citrus come through. It also makes the spirit more prone to the epic woodiness that comes from the casks in maturation. No other Scottish distillery insists on triple distilling every drop. As a result of its production methods, Auchentoshan’s product is sometimes called “the breakfast whisky” due to its sweet and delicate flavor. Our Auchentoshan gift set will surely impress!

Frequently Asked Questions

Where Do You Get Your Scotch Whisky Sampler Spirits From?

We source all the scotch whisky from the LCBO. This allows you the opportunity to purchase a larger bottle if you like what you taste. This makes for the perfect LCBO scotch sampler!

Is This A Good Whiskey Experience Gift For A Scotch Lover?

Often scotch tasting gifts are myopic, leaving the giftee missing the big picture. There are many interrelationships between various spirits and even other non-spirit alcoholic beverages such as wine and beer.

This scotch whisky sampler gift set with it’s included tasting guide helps to demystify spirits by enabling participants to understand these interrelationships and learn transferable tasting skills and knowledge that span various spirits.

This helps make for the best best scotch tasting gift set!

Is This A Single Malt Scotch Sampler Pack?

The key point for single malt whisky tasting set is the use of 100 percent malted barley as the grain for the scotch samples. It should also be noted that all of the whisky that goes into a bottle of single malt can come from different batches of production, but must come from just one distillery. That is what the “single” in single malt means.

You might still be wondering what the “malt” part is in a single malt sampler pack. Barley has high levels of starch and enzymes that facilitate the fermentation process. Malted barley is the “malt” element of malt whisky. Barley is steeped in water, spread out and left to germinate. This breaks down the grain’s cell walls, allowing enzymes to access starches.

By definition this is a single malt scotch tasting set.

Do You Drink The Entire Bottle Of Scotch For Each Tasting?

This scotch tasting kit includes two rounds of tasting. For each tasting ½ fl oz (15ml) is fine (half the sample bottle).

For the first tasting order you line the bottles up in sequence from left to right using the order in the scotch tasting guide.

For the second tasting order it will be randomised as you will taste spirits without knowing what is in the bottle or commonly referred to as a “blind” tasting. The rationale for a blind tasting is that knowing the brand or even the bottle appearance can influence you before you have taken your first sip.
