The drink mixed vodka, gin, rum, tequila, Triple Sec, lemon juice, simple syrup, and a splash of cola. It quickly became popular for its refreshing taste and strong effects.

However, some claim that the origins of the drink might be traced back even earlier, to the Prohibition era in the 1920s. At this time, a drink called the “Old Man Bishop” was made by mixing different spirits with tea. This was done to hide the taste of bad-quality alcohol.
