Do You Provide Liquor For The Drink Making Class?

Our customers provide the liquor for the mixology class to help save money on the overall cost (so we don’t have to apply a mark-up). To help take the guesswork out of how much liquor to order of the various types, we will create a detailed liquor order estimate for your planned mixology drinks and provide instructions on how to place your liquor order. A good liquor budget is $2.00 a drink. For example if you have a two drink mixology class, then your budget would be $4 per guest. If you have a three drink mixology class, then your budget would be $6 per guest.

Do I Need A Liquor License For The Mixology Class?

For most mixology classes a liquor permit is not required because the class is usually an invite only event, and it’s held in a private place with no liquor sales. If a liquor permit is required, we will provide guidance on how to secure it. Below is some more information on liquor permits from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO).

The AGCO defines a private place and a private event as follows:

  • A private event is where only invited guests will attend. These events cannot be advertised and there can be no intent to gain or profit from the sale of alcohol at the event.
  • A private place is an indoor area not usually open to the public, and not open to the public during the event (e.g. a residence, boardroom or private office).
