To achieve a balance with the sour notes of the cranberry and citrus, typically a sweeter is used for a Cosmopolitan cocktail. This may be from the already sweetened cranberry juice and the Cointreau, or for a non traditional variation could even be cotton candy!

Bitters For A Different Cosmopolitan Cocktail Gift Set

The original Cosmo recipe doesn’t really call for the use of bitters. But we have found that bitters can be a wonderful addition to the Cosmopolitan’s unique flavors. 

We recommend adding orange bitters, for example, to give you a bit of edge to the otherwise sweet-tasting drink. Complexity and flavor? You have it right there! And don’t worry. Adding a touch of bitters won’t make your drink bitter! It just hits all the right notes on your tongue!

What’s the classic Cosmopolitan cocktail recipe?

There isn’t one classic Cosmo recipe. Let’s just say there are many variations of it. Our mixologists usually love serving this one up because it’s simple:

 

1½oz citrus vodka

½oz Cointreau

1oz cranberry juice

½oz fresh lime juice

Combine all these ingredients into a cocktail shaker. You get that with our bar tools, remember! Shake well and strain. Pour into a chilled Martini glass. Garnish with a lemon wedge or an orange twist.
