Absolutely. Purchasing your own liquor allows you to save money on your bartender service. Any product purchased can be returned for a full refund, or simply kept by you to enjoy for a future date.

For returns to the LCBO, customers may return any product that is in saleable condition (bottled sealed and label intact) to any LCBO store provided it is accompanied by the original receipt within thirty (30) days of purchase. When returning alcohol purchased at a store for a permit event, you must produce the permit and a copy of the sales receipt. 

For Beer Store returns cash refunds are only provided for Special Occasion Permit (SOP returns), provided the product is sealed and still in its case (if applicable).

It’s impossible to predict the exact proportions of distilled alcohol, wine, and beer your guests will consume at your event. The great news is that if you purchase your own liquor, you don’t have to worry about this when developing your event liquor budget because you can return any unused product in saleable condition for a full refund in Ontario. Since you can return unused liquor it becomes easy to establish a conservative liquor budget for your event based on the maximum guests will consume. 

You can assume each guest will consume one standard distilled alcohol drink (43 ml of 1.5oz) per hour per guest. Why base your budget on distilled alcohol you ask? Generally distilled alcohol is slightly more expensive than a standard drink of beer (341 ml or 12 oz) or wine (142 ml or 5oz) which makes your liquor budget conservative.

To develop this liquor order we will take into consideration your theme, preferences, budget, and pairings with food.

We will provide you with recommended bottles to execute your beverage menu based on your requirements, and instructions on how to place your liquor order.

We will provide guidance on the type of permit you require, and how to secure your liquor permit (if required).

A liquor permit is not required for a non-public event in a non-public place with no liquor sales.

A liquor permit is required anytime alcohol is offered for sale, or served anywhere other than in a licensed establishment or a non-public place. 

The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) defines a non-public place and a non-public event as:

• A non-public event is where only invited guests will attend. These events cannot be advertised and there can be no intent to gain or profit from the sale of alcohol at the event.
• A non-public place is an indoor area not usually accessible to the public, and not accessible to the public during the event (e.g. a residence, boardroom or office).
